3-month Milestone

Emma is now 3 months old. I love looking at her newborn pictures because she has changed a bit but not much. She still looks like Emma, just with more weight.

It can be hard to know what to do with a 3-month old because she still can’t hold her head up for a long period of time. Forget her head, she can’t really hold up her body. I tried putting her in an exersaucer the other day and her body just wilted forward. But she is definitely on the brink. Just lately she’s been getting bored with the toys I give her, but she loves “talking” to me…or with me. A few times a week I’ll prop her up on our coach while I sit across from her on a footstool. Invariably, as I chat with my mother, Emma will do her “talking” while I’m trying to say something. And she’s much louder than me. The real issue is I could listen to her all day and can’t help but laugh with sheer delight while she practices her sounds.

Last week she turned from her belly to her back but that was with the great inspiration of the television. She adores the TV but our doctor told us not to let her watch it. So as my husband and I watch it, we try and position in her in a way where she can’t see it. But man, can she spin her head 180 degrees in order to take a look. So anyway, while the TV was on, I put her on her belly. And as she would lift her head high to watch she’d end up flipping over. If the TV isn’t on, she isn’t inspired.

I’ve also noticed she grabs things with her left hand. Will she be a lefty? I hear more men are left-handers than women. My husband is right-handed and I’m ambidextrous so I can’t wait to find out what Emma prefers.

I continue to heal from my c-section. There are still times when the stiches inside me feel a bit sensitive. I’m hoping I’ll be fully recovered at 6 months. In any case, it doesn’t stop me from doing anything.
