Travel Hungry

posted in Pregnancy, Viewed: 532 times

I’m desperate to go on a small holiday before it’s too late but just can’t figure out where we can go. It seems the farther along I get, the fewer my choices are. Yes, apparently with precautions I can get on an airplane…but I get real nervous at the idea that if I encounter a problem I’m nowhere near my doctor much less home.

A month ago I went to the zoo here in the bay area and walked around for 4 hours and then paid for that with some pain for a few days. Less than a week ago I started experiencing stretching of the ligaments as I get bigger which translates into me having to take it slower and easier. I’m really uncomfortable when I’m lying or sitting on the ground and I’ve read several times that I shouldn’t lie on my back, only on my side.

Soooo…what does that leave me with? I don’t want to travel somewhere and do something fun 1 day only to be out of commission the next 2. When I think of a vacation these days, I imagine myself lying on a chaise by the pool reading or sleeping followed by some shopping and good eating. But how do I get to this place? How long would I really be able to sit in a car? Ten hours? Five hours?

I’ve been to so many countries and gone exploring which is what frustrates me the most. When it gets right down to it, for the first time in my life I’m a little uncomfortable being away from home yet I have the insatiable need to go see something new.

I think someone should put togther a book or website on travel ideas for pregnant women. I’ve already read the travel precautions but need some ideas of things I could really pull off when I’m in my 6th month. Anyone have any ideas?
